Marketing Group
The Marketing Group at Aston Business School has an international reputation for research and teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and post-experience levels. Our interests extend across the full spectrum of marketing specialities but we focus in particular on the areas of marketing strategy, product and brand management, marketing channels and services and research methods and pedagogy.
In addition to research papers, members of the group have published leading text books in the field, most notably the European edition of Principles of Marketing by Kotler, Wong, Saunders and Armstrong and Marketing Strategy and Competitive Positioning by Hooley, Saunders and Piercy.

Aston Business School (ABS) is one of the UK's fastest developing business schools, based in the country's second city, Birmingham. ABS achieved a 5 rating in the recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 2001 and a perfect 24/24 score for teaching quality from the QAA. Our school and programmes are accredited by Equis, AMBA, ESRC and many professional bodies.

To advance marketing knowledge within an international context, in both the practitioner and academic marketing communities, by achieving the highest standards of research, education and consultancy.
Culture
In order to achieve our aims we operate a culture of collaboration, cooperation and information sharing with respect to the latest developments and best practice appropriate to all our activities. Our network of contacts extends not just within the University, or the wider academic sphere, but out into the "real world" of business. We collaborate in research programmes and carry out consulting for many commercial organisations including some of the most prominent operators within their respective fields. We invite professionals from these organisations and others to contribute to our teaching programmes and believe that this results in mutually beneficial and satisfying relationships. Our accrediting body, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, is another important source of practitioner contact.
We believe that, as academics, we can only maintain the necessary relevance and momentum for effective action by this continuous reciprocal process of problem solving in a practical context.

- Courses - post experience & executive, undergraduate and postgraduate, including research degrees such as PhD and MPhil
- Management Consulting - Our experienced team can tackle most types of marketing problem-solving, strategy development and implementation
- Research Outputs - Many of our discoveries are widely available within academic and professional media. They may be applied in an academic or practical context
